Have you ever noticed how when you learn a new word, you suddenly start hearing it everywhere? Well, I just learned a new layer of meaning in a word and now I’m hearing this new definition everywhere.

Keep reading the article below to see what the heck I’m talking about.

“The greatness of a man’s power is the measure of his surrender.”
~William Booth

When you think of the act of surrendering, what comes to mind?

This:

Cat-I-Surrender

Or this:

surrender-cuddles

The answer to that question is actually more important than you maybe realize, so I’ll give you a minute to ponder.

Still stuck? Here’s another way of thinking about that same question:

If you surrender, have you failed?

Or, have you succeeded?

I suppose it depends on what you’re surrendering to, but I’d like to encourage you to give this idea a bit of mental space. Engage in the concept of surrender… in the floating in a warm ocean current sort of way, not in a waving the white flag sort of way.

If you allow yourself to let go of any attachment to any particular outcome, you are surrendering. When you meditate, you are surrendering. When you ride a horse, you are surrendering. When you make love, you are SO totally surrendering. AmIright?

And giving up is not the same thing. It has a very different energetic feeling, does it not? If you give up, your focus is on not being able to do something. If you surrender, your focus is on trust, belief and utter faith that everything is working out for you in its own perfect way.

See what I mean?

And if you align 100% with that expectation that the universe has got your back – yes, by surrendering! – then everything really will work out for you… in a more perfect way than you could have come up with by force, manipulation, begging, pleading, threatening, or throwing your hands up in the air – but still grumbling about it as you walk away.

So, let’s practice surrendering this week and see what happens, okay? And let me know how it goes by commenting below.
