Synchronicity… What’s In It For You?

What if there was no such thing as coincidence? What if absolutely every, single thing that happens in our lives happens for a reason?

Perhaps we aren’t consciously aware of the reason or the cause, but I believe there always is one. You know the saying, “hindsight is 20/20”? Yeah. That.

Synchronicity can be defined as the occurrence of “meaningful coincidences” in our lives, often explained away as good luck, or even miracles.  Many spiritual and metaphysical teachers believe that these events provide important clues from the spiritual dimension about how we should act in order to fulfill our destiny or our purpose in life. When we break out of our habits of thought, our overarching mindset, we are then able to enter a state of greater awareness, openness and purpose.

I’ve always noticed that synchronistic events seem to take place much closer together and much more dramatically when I’m on the “right” path towards something I’m creating. Usually, it’s in the lead-up to a big life event. For me, that means when I moved away from Dallas, TX (my hometown), when I was about to graduate from college and when I was planning my wedding.

Most recently, these synchronicities have begun popping up one after another. And – no surprise here – I’m experiencing some major shifts in my life right now!

Here’s just one example:

I had a dream a few nights ago. In this dream, I found myself wondering about a particular friend from childhood who I had lost touch with. And then, she appeared in my dream. But that’s not the synchronistic part!
When I woke up the next morning, I immediately thought that I needed to try to find this friend (on Facebook, if nothing else). So, I opened my computer, took a quick peek at my email and almost fell out of my chair! Right there, the most recent unread message in my mailbox, was a notification from Facebook that this friend from childhood had requested to add me as a friend on Facebook!

Crazy, right?

Except, I don’t think it’s really crazy… I think it’s a sign. Some refer to it as a “wink from the universe,” which is an image I totally love.

I also noticed that the more I notice these types of events in my life, the more they come into my experience. And I remind myself to do a happy dance, because THIS is the stuff that makes life fun and interesting and exciting!

And, all of the events I mentioned above where I remember having lots of synchronicities beforehand turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Thank you, Universe!

What about you? What do you think about life’s little (or big) synchronicities? And, if you’ve been noticing lots of seemingly unexplained “coincidences” in your life lately, consider this message your “wink from the universe”! 😉
