Happy New Year! 2014 is the Chinese Year of the Horse, which is meaningful to me for a few reasons:

  1. Because I’m horsey (obv…).
  2. This is the year we’ll be bringing home our adopted child from China.
  3. The Year of the Horse is all about moving forward boldly, powerfully and with full confidence and strength… In fact, my Word of the Year for 2014 is brave.

I already started my 2014 doing something brave: public speaking!

I had the great honor of being invited to speak at the annual CrossFit Asheville New Year’s Day Event this year. I was asked to consider addressing a question that had been asked a lot of our coaches by participants in our CrossFit community: “When you know something is not good for you, but you keep doing it, what are some different methods that individuals have found successful to then make the healthier decision consistently?”

That got me thinking about what has worked with my clients and with myself in terms of sticking to positive changes we’ve made in our lives. What I arrived at – The Secret to Stick-to-itiveness – is contained in this video (that my dear husband took so I could share it with you):

And so,  I hope that you got some comfort from that video and that maybe it inspired you – even just a little bit – to go out and LIVE your life in 2014. I’d love to hear your thoughts about this… please share them in the comment section below.
